The West

• $70,000 to preserve coastal Douglas-fir forest and garry oak plant communities at Cowichan Valley.
• Over $300,000 to ensure ongoing stewardship of Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC)-owned properties across British Columbia.
• $1.5 million to Darkwoods, the single largest private land conservation project in Canadian history (136,000 acres), in the South Selkirks Natural Area of British Columbia.

The Prairies

• More than $4.5 million toward native prairie habitat conservation projects across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
• $100,000 to preserve the grasslands and wetlands of Upper Qu’Appelle Natural Area in Saskatchewan.

The Great Lakes / St. Lawrence River

• $120,000 in support of conservation work on the Western Lake Erie Islands.
• Donation of two properties totalling 66 acres on Ontario’s Pelee Island, part of an important flyway for migrating birds.
• Over $40,000 in support of conservation land acquisition and stewardship in the Frontenac Arch, also called the Frontenac Axis, east and north of Kingston, Ontario.
• Over $120,000 towards conservation work in the Southern Norfolk Sand Plain Natural Area, a critical area for conserving the species and habitats unique to Canada’s Carolinian Life Zone in southwestern Ontario.
• Over $225,000 toward protecting the Senneville Forest, the largest tract of wooded land on the Island of Montreal in Quebec.

The Appalachian Corridor

• $192,000 for the conservation of White Mountains, and $250,000 for Northern Green Mountains in Quebec, adjacent to the Vermont border.
• Over $90,000 to ensure ongoing stewardship of NCC-owned properties in the province of Quebec.

The Eastern Seaboard

• $65,000 in combined grants to Johnson’s Mills and Musquash Estuary projects in New Brunswick and Deep Cove in Nova Scotia.
• Nearly $1 million toward conservation projects on the Northumberland Strait in Nova Scotia.
• Donation of a 252-acre property on Nova Scotia’s Scotian South Shore.
• Over $1.1 million to protect natural areas, such as Boughton Island, on Prince Edward Island.
• Donations of land totalling 634 acres at Point Escuminac, New Brunswick.

Building Conservation Capacity

• Over $4 million in general capacity support to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, including development of a conservation volunteer program, a conservation project (property) securement and stewardship tracking system, and many other priority projects.
